Promoting Better Environmental Practices in Textile Processing Sector of Pakistan (PBEPs)
World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-P) initiated a one year project “Promoting Better Environmental Practices in Textile Processing Sector of Pakistan (PBEPs)” with the financial assistance of European Union (EU). Cleaner Production Institute (CPI) was the consultant for this project. This project started from July 01, 2005 and completed on June 30, 2006. The project aimed to prepare Pakistan's textile processing industry to meet the environmental challenges in the emerging global trade regime. This was achieved by developing expertise of the industry on the suitable Better Environmental Management Practices (BEMPs). These practices were already adopted by the European and other advanced countries. The international buyers also increasingly demanding that these practices should be implemented in the industry with which they do business.
